Project Description
By imagining a future where emergency response is not controlled from a single building, this project postulates that emergency response must become an integrated and networked function of the city. Stemming from the provocation that the best action in the state of emergency is “for the response to go out to the public”, this infrastructure clings parasitically onto the city’s transportation, energy and service networks. A facility of engineers, designers, architects and technicians develop the new technologies and digital networks of this Emergency Infrastructure. The Emergency Infrastructure Headquarters becomes a smart, integrated part of the city, and evolves emergency response beyond the current model of reactionary impulses.
