Project Description
The last project explores the concept of nature vs. culture theme in the context of urban Tokyo. Inspired by the Japanese practices of street gardening as acts of care and urban intervention (however, not always legal), this building welcomes growing in various forms - here, wilderness becomes a space of play as well as a territory to encounter the inner wilderness through the traditional Japanese ritual of incense burning. It brings together nature and spirituality by utilizing the poche as spaces for seed
storage, vertical gardens, and drying racks for the herbs that then take part in the ritual housed in the figural enclosures interconnected by a grid of glass hallways.
