A historic preservation proposal for the Ladeira da Misericórdia, Salvador, Brazil, started off from the local ceramic making practice: for Robert A.M. Stern classical studio led by Norma Barbacci and Sunil Bald @sunilbald.

The architectural intervention finds inspiration from shelters for archaeological sites commonly seen in Latin America. Light touch, small footprint, thin and skeletal, the new structure contrasts with the old and only provides what is needed – a canopy and a piece of shadow.
