Bryan Fuermann

Since 2001 Bryan Fuermann has taught continuously landscape history in Western Europe and America from Ancient Rome to the present in the Yale School of Architecture. In addition he has taught two summer sessions in British landscape history at the Paul Mellon Center, London and has participated as on-site lecturer on Italian landscape and architectural history in the Robert A.M.Stern drawing seminar, Rome: Continuity and Change, YSOA, 2001-2024. Prior to coming to Yale he taught eighteenth- to twentieth-century English and American literature and eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British art history, including the history of landscape painting and of landscape architecture, at the University of Illinois, Urbana; the New School; Northwestern University; Columbia College; the Newberry Library; and the University of Illinois, Chicago. Mr. Fuermann received a B.A. from Northwestern University, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and an M.Des.S. from Harvard University.

In 2023, Fuermann received the King-Lui Wu Teaching Award, selected by YSoA students.
