Honolulu, HI. For Advanced Studio, Spring 2019 with Brigitte Shim and Andrei Harwell. This mixed-use housing proposal examines past and present colonization of Hawaii and privileges Native Hawaiian intelligence. Through semi-public courtyards, flexible unit modules, and shared patterns of living, this project treats all spaces as a pool of common resources. Subverting the given brief into affordable housing plus a center for living and healing arts, the project stands as a small but important step towards a material recovery of Hawaiian sovereignty.

Site Section at Low Tide. Rockaway, Queens, NYC. Fall 2017 with Joel Sanders and Leslie Gill. Studio Partner: Varoon Kelekar M.Arch II’19. The Jamaica Bay Coastal Research Station and Ferry Terminal responds to sea-level rise and recommended managed retreat. Designed as stone jetties along Jamaica Bay’s edge, the proposal facilitates the return of a saltmarsh ecosystem. As the population retreats the project is partially dismantled. Only the stone jetties will remain in 100 years’ time. Here, architecture becomes a catalyst for ecosystems management, coastal resilience, and collaboration among humans and nonhumans.
Inner Harbor, Baltimore Healthy Harbor. Baltimore, MD. Summer 2019 with Biohabitats. The Baltimore Healthy Harbor is a visioning project developed with Biohabitats through the Hixon Fellowship. Aerial Perspective. Jamaica, Queens, NYC. For Advanced Studio, Spring 2020 with Stella Betts. By allowing for all components of civic life to happen under one free space, this proposal for the Queens Central Library simply provides the setting for deep participation in public life. It is at once monumental and ordinary. Its approachability allows the library to bestow nobility upon each patron as they pursue growth and personal development, intrinsically augmenting the unfolding democratic project that is the Queens Public Library.

It has been a profound privilege to be a student at Yale these past three years. Having the time and space to explore, examine, and wonder is a luxury I will always treasure. But above all, I am so deeply grateful to so many with whom I have shared this journey: to my teachers and mentors who continuously challenge me; to all of my classmates and dear friends from whom I’ve had the privilege to learn perseverance, humility, and tenderness; to my family and friends who have instilled hope and belief in me – thank you. You all make this journey meaningful.
