Redevelopment: The Story of Church Street South
Examining the impact of 50 years of redevelopment efforts in the Church Street South district, Jonathan Hopkins takes a critical look at the legacy of top-down planning in New Haven. Designed as an affordable housing development in 1968 by then-Dean of the Yale School of Architecture, Charles Moore, Church Street South is in the midst of a rapid transformation today under a new redevelopment project. The exhibit explores the methods of city planning, the madness of redevelopment, and the meaning to be found in all of it.
