Exhibition credits

As part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, students at the Yale School of Architecture have designed an interactive pavilion in collaboration with Columbus House, a New Haven nonprofit with a longstanding commitment to end homelessness. The pavilion will highlight the work of several local organizations:

• Columbus House
• Mothers (and Others) for Justice
• Connecticut Fair Housing Center
• New Haven Legal Assistance Association
• Partnership for Strong Communities
• Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness
• Hill Central School

Over the course of the Festival, these organizations will hold workshops and discussion events at the pavilion, providing the community with an array of tools and knowledge to tackle these issues and to prompt discussions about the meaning of home. The pavilion will outline the state of housing in Connecticut as well as the personal stories of those experiencing homelessness. Visitors can leave their impressions and share their own stories about finding home that will be added to the pavilion.

The pavilion marks the second year of a five-year-long partnership between Columbus House and the Yale School of Architecture as part of the Jim Vlock Building Project, in which graduate students from the first year class design a two unit home to be built specifically for those experiencing homelessness.
