This course acquaints students with inclusive design principles and participatory design methods by interacting with stakeholders (museum staff and visitors) on an actual project. Additionally, the course explores storybuilding, a concept that brings together designers and public health professionals to use different mediums (text, drawing, video, animation, VR/AR) and platforms (print, film, social media) to persuasively communicate their messages to targeted audiences. Students create design proposals that translate data gathered from feedback from museum stakeholders; the proposals are incorporated into a final report that will be disseminated to U.S. and international museums, as well as through a symposium and small exhibition.
