This seminar, consisting of weekly exercises, addresses issues of architectural composition and form. Leaving aside demands of program and site in order to concentrate on formal relationships at multiple scales, these exercises are intended to establish proficiency with “the language of architecture” as well encourage confidence in personal, formal proclivities. Students are responsible for their weekly designs as well as for critiquing the projects of their fellow students; the goal is not only formal and compositional dexterity but also eyes that can see the organizational paradigms at work in any piece of architecture. Limited enrollment.
