JUMBO- Intern
JUMBO is an architecture and furniture design studio based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, NY. We have a small team of 4 employees working on a scale ranging from furniture design to large scale civil infrastructure projects. It’s a wide range of project types, but it’s the two things we love–small interiors and large exteriors. We are particularly interested in resiliency and climate change initiatives–real world projects that actually make a difference in peoples’ lives.
The job itself will be the intensive, large scale modelmaking of two projects:
- Pumping Station for floodwater in Old Town Alexandria Park (cancelled October 2025 by Trump executive order terminating BRIC funding).
- Waste Transfer Facility for AlexRenew Enterprises (Sewer Authority). This project will be constructed, with an anticipated construction completion of 2030.
Interns will have an opportunity to weigh in on design decisions, massing, material choice, etc. This is a great opportunity for a student to contribute to a resiliency project that is fully funded and will be built.
