As a part of the Experimental 3D Printing Lab, the Advanced Technology office has made a Lulzbot TAZ5 open and ready to use in the 7th floor 3D Printing area. No filament will be supplied by the school, but students are welcome to bring their own filament to use in the printer.
*This process requires an SD card. If you do not have one, you can check one out in the AT Office.*
Filament specification:
- 2.85mm-3.0mm filament diameter
- Total Spool weight <3kg
- Printing temperature below 280° C
- Heated bed temperature below 120° C
- No heated environment required (this excludes most Nylon and Polycarbonate filaments)
Preparing a Gcode file
Jobs can be processed using a variety of slicers. The AT office recommends Cura, the most recent version of which can be downloaded from Lulzbot here. If you cannot find your filament’s profile in the premade profiles within the Lulzbot version of Cura, check with the filament manufacturer for recommended printing settings and work with the AT office staff to make a profile for your material.

Setting up
Check to make sure that the bed of the TAZ5 is level by following this video tutorial from Lulzbot. Load filament from a spool (loose material tends to bind after some extrusion), according to the method shown in this video tutorial.
