Laser Cutter Rooms

Each Laser Cutter Room Contains:

• Two 18” x 32” Laser Cutters
• Cutting Table
• Two Laser Cutter Workstations

Available: 8:00am to 12:00am, 7 days a week, Fall Semester and Spring Semester

Outside the Fall and Spring semesters, the laser cutter rooms are shutdown to normal walk up and use student access.

Students who need to use a laser cutter during this time need to schedule an appointment with a DM staff member to gain access to a laser cutter. There is an additional cost per job cost of using the laser cutters during this time due to the increased staff labor needed to provide access and monitor the user’s activities.

This was put in place due to safety concerns from the University Fire Marshall and by Yale’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety. The building is not fully occupied during this time and the concern is that an unattended Laser Cutter, if it were to catch on fire, could be a danger to the building and its occupants.
